About the photograph

This original Nature Noticed photograph was taken at Newport Docks, South Wales from a rarely accessible industrial vantage point overlooking the docks. It offers a perspective not normally available to the public, giving this image a genuine sense of place and unusual provenance without being a conventional tourist viewpoint.

The docks are caught at the edge of day: a wind turbine rises over the waterfront, pylons and dockside lights mark the distant industrial skyline, and the last orange-gold light of sunset is mirrored across calm tidal water. Exposed low-tide banks curve into the scene, drawing the eye toward the working landscape on the horizon.

The panoramic composition gives the image unusual depth for a mug design.
